The Flicks Hut is an independent pop-up community cinema that forms part of our Saturday Nights In - Our Speakeasy series and Rooted in Rhythm series. We programme independent and classic films that open up conversation - on mental health, poverty, gender and racial equality, the NI conflict, sexuality and more - and we host relaxed, inclusive post-film discussions (no jargon, all welcome).
As well as running themed movie nights as part of our regular programme, The Flicks Hut is also available to host film screenings by request. We collaborate with community groups, schools/colleges and local organisations to host bespoke screenings. If you’d like to partner with us, get in touch - let’s bring thought-provoking cinema to new audiences in an informal, friendly setting.

In Drylongso, a young Black photographer captures portraits of the men in her Oakland neighbourhood - ordinary young men she fears are disappearing from her community.
Through her lens, the film becomes a meditation on creativity, identity, and the quiet power of everyday activism.

Inside an Ivorian prison, a young man must captivate fellow inmates with tales blending myth, music, and movement. Night of the Kings expands the series globally, exploring how rhythm and storytelling help us survive and belong.
